I’m Too Tired For My Skin Regiment at Night

I hear this statement often from my clients. I get it, as a mom of five and working full time some times life is just too overwhelming to think about your skincare regiment.

However, I make my night time skincare regiment a priority for a reason, and here is why.

I first need to start with work our body works.

Circadian rhythms

Circadian rhythms are changes that happen inside the body at different times of the day.

In the morning and afternoon your skin is exposed to harmful environmental triggers, such as light, bacteria, and viruses, so at this time the main functions fo the skin is to lock down everything to protect itself.

At night your skin opens up and increases proliferation and regeneration of new skin cells at least 30x more than during the day.

How does it affect my skin?

Simplified, your skin protects itself in the daytime from the environment. At night your skin drops that protective barrier and focuses on the repair. So whatever you put on at night, will get absorbed better and deeper. A perfect time to provide nourishment for your skin to do the best job it can.

Why washing your face at night is so important

Never forget, whatever in on your skin at night gets absorbed deeper into your skin. YES, that means if you didn’t clean your face, your skin is going to eat your makeup!! EKKK!

This is why your night skin regiment is the most important.

From 9-11 pm your skin going into rapid repair mode, so this is the best time to nourish the skin with things it needs from your nighttime routine.

**SKIN HACK: Do your skincare as soon as you get home instead of waiting until you go to bed**

Doing your skincare regiment right when you get home from work or before you start to make dinner will help you be consistent and hopefully prevent you from forgetting completely. And we all know, consistency brings results!
